The part time painting studio is an exciting opportunity to be part to an academic painting group with guided instruction. Participants will work on individual projects of their choosing while the teacher will always be on-hand to do demonstrations, give critiques, answer questions, and guide your growth as a painter.

We will have two groups with a maximum of 6 students per group. When registering, students will choose either Wednesday or Thursday as their studio day. Then, students will attend every week on that day for the 8-week duration.

 

During each instructed studio session, students paint in the morning and in the afternoon (with an hour break for lunch).  Working in a variety of media, students hone their observational skills and develop an understanding of line, composition, value, colour, and form. These are essential skills for any artist.

Often, there will be a demonstration of the different components of the academic process. From there, students begin their own series of composition, gesture, and colour studies. Having thoroughly studied the subject, the students then begin a painting. I will work side-by-side with the students, offering individual critiques throughout each day.

As the critiques are catered to the individual needs of each student, this studio membership is open to painters of all skill levels. However, space is limited to 6 students. Places will be reserved on a first come, first served basis.
