In this 6 - week introductory course, students will study drawing and painting the nude figure in an in-depth way. Working from life and photographs, with an emphasis on construction, proportion, gesture, light and shadow, we will paint the figure over the course of 6 weeks.

Painting the figure from life is indeed very challenging- but also very rewarding. The study of the figure is the foundation for all visual art, and an excellent way to grow as an artist.

We will study the figure by drawing in graphite and charcoal, and painting in oil. We offer an environment that is challenging, but supportive.

 

Students should bring their own materials, but everything needed is also available at the studio.
